Moving IBM EXP300 Storage Expansion Unit, and loosing RAID configuration :(

We have got this storage unit attached to one of our servers.

When I tried to detach it and move to a new server I did not get the same RAID configuration and instead all drives in the unit showed up as separate devices. As I understand the RAID configuration remained stored on the old server (I presume RAID controller?).

There are lots of data stored on this storage (almost 600GB) which needs to be transferred across to the new server, so I wander if there is any other way to do it except backing up to tapes and restoring from tapes?
